The Central Reserve Police Force (crpf long form) is the country's largest Central Armed Police Force. It is under the jurisdiction from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The primary role of the CRPF is to support the State/Union Territories with police operations in order to ensure law and order , and to combat the insurgency. It was established under the form of the Crown Representative's Police on the 27th of July 1939. Following Indian Independence, it was made an official part of the Central Reserve Police Force on the passing of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

Besides law and order and counter-insurgency roles as well as counter-insurgency functions and counter-insurgency tasks, the CRPF has played an increasingly important role in India's In the North East elections. This is especially true for those who were part of the state before it, such as Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and in the North East, because of the occurrence of tensions and violence. During the Parliamentary elections of September 1999, the CRPF played an important role in security measures. At present, CRPF contingents are also being sent in UN missions.

With 246 battalions as well as various other facilities and other establishments, the CRPF is thought to be India's most powerful central police force equipped with firearms and authorized to employ over 300,000 people as of the year 2019. [4]

Organizational Set-up of the Force

The Hqrs for The Force Headquarters of Central Reserve Police Force is located in Block No. 1, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The CGO Complex is led by Director General who is assisted by three Addl. Directors General , 9 Inspectors General of Police, a Financial Adviser and Director (Medical). The structure is these steps :

Directorate General

Administration

Administration Directorate Administration Directorate is functioning under the direction under the supervision by lG (Adm). They are supported with the help of DIG (Adm) as well as DIG (Welfare).

Personnel

The Personnel Directorate is functioning under the overall supervision of lG (Pers). He is assisted by the aid from DIG (Pers), DIG (CR and Vig), DIG (Org), DIG (Estt) and Comdt(Estt).

Training

The Training Directorate is functioning under the overall supervision from IG(Training). He is assisted by the assistance from DIG (Training-l), DIG (Training-ll) and DIG(Sports).

Operations

The Operations Directorate is functioning under the direction by IG (OPS). The Directorate is supported by the assistance from DIG (OPS-I) in addition to DIG (OPS-II).

Provisioning

The Provisioning Directorate operates under the direct supervision by IG (Provisioning). He is supported by the Department of General Management (Prov) and the DIG (Mod and OR), DIG(MT), Comdt. (Mod) and Asstt. Director (Prov).

Communication

IG(Communication) is the head for Communication Dte. Communication Dte. The team is supported by DIG (Eqpt ), DIG (Tech) and DIG (IT) .

Intelligence

The Intelligence Directorate is functioning under the general supervision of IG (Intelligence). He is assisted by DIG (MAC),Commandant(Int) and PRO.

Establishment

The Establishment branch is managed under the control of the IG(Estt.). The IG(Estt.) is supported by DIG(Law) in conjunction with DIG (Rectt).

Finance

The Finance Branch and Pay is located under the direct supervision from FA. He is assisted by Dy.FA.

Medical

The Medical Branch is functioning under the supervision of the IG/ Director (Medical). They are assisted by 2 Dy. Director (Medical)
